Are you trying to decide whether the 2024 GMC Canyon is a suitable investment? Buying a midsize pickup truck, or any model for that matter, is a significant purchase, so we at Jack Giambalvo Buick GMC have put together a comparison guide to show you why the Canyon is a better option over competitors like the 2024 Honda Ridgeline. Read the article below for details!

Performance

GMC and Honda are known for their reliability over time. However, the 2024 Canyon displays more strength than the Ridgeline. The standard 2.7L TurboMax™ 4-cylinder engine in GMC’s truck creates 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque, while Honda’s model has a 3.5L V6 powertrain that produces 280 horsepower¹ and 262 lb.-ft. of torque². Because of the Canyon’s system stats, it’s able to wield a 7,700-lb. maximum towing capacity³, but the 2024 Ridgeline has a 5,000-lb. towing limit⁴. The Honda pickup truck also comes with a standard AWD for all trim levels, but GMC’s version allows you to choose between RWD and available 4WD. This means you’ll have more options when shopping for the GMC model. While the Ridgeline has a standard 9-speed automatic transmission, the Canyon has a standard 8-speed automatic variant.

Infotainment

There are a few similarities between the 2024 GMC Canyon and Honda Ridgeline. Both pickup trucks can contain wireless Bluetooth®⁵ technology. That means you’ll be able to commute along South Queen Street and make voice commands to answer and receive calls. Plus, you can stream music from your mobile device while you’re headed to your destination. When you want to engage podcasts or hundreds of other channels, consider getting the available SiriusXM®⁶ Satellite Radio. Apple CarPlay®⁷ and Android Auto™⁸ are also standard in these vehicles, but the display used to control them vary. The 2024 Ridgeline has a standard 9.0-inch color monitor, while the Canyon is equipped with an 11.3-inch touchscreen⁹. Additionally, GMC added an available Google Built-in¹⁰ feature to better serve customers who wish to take advantage of navigation.

Cargo

If you want to maximize your carrying capability, the GMC Canyon is the right choice. This midsize pickup truck has a 1,670-lb. maximum payload limit¹¹, but the Honda Ridgeline has a 1,599-lb. maximum payload capacity¹¹. The Canyon also has a storage space advantage due to its 41.3 cubic ft. of cargo area¹², while the Ridgeline sports 33.9 cubic ft. of bed space¹². To be more competitive, Honda added an under-bed compartment for compact storage. GMC’s vehicle has an available waterproof tailgate storage. However, the Ridgeline doesn’t have the available CornerStep rear bumper feature like the Canyon. Both trucks have a 5-ft. truck bed, which you’re able to use to carry parcels on Hershey Avenue and beyond. If you want to know more, contact us online for details!
